Satellite helps elephants - 15th February 2021

Scientists want to count elephants in Africa. They have a new computer programme to help them. The computer uses a satellite in space.

The satellite is 600 kilometres away. It takes photos of the elephants in the forest. Sometimes, the photos are not very clear. It is difficult to see the elephants. The computer programme helps the scientists. The computer counts the elephants.

The Addo Elephant Park in South Africa has lots of elephants. Scientists used the satellite here first.

Many people are worried about elephants in Africa. They want to keep elephants safe. This is difficult. Sometimes, they can’t find the elephants. The computer programme will help these people. It can look at the satellite photos. It can find the elephants.
