Augmented Reality Art - 8th January 2021 view all

This is a new art show in London. Its name is "Unreal City".

Herig: "You open the app, select ‘Unreal City’, go to life buoy number 1, and then view it. This artwork is by Koo Jeong A. It's called ‘Density’."

You can't see the art with your eyes. You need to use your phone, like this. The name of this technology is 'augmented reality'. There are 36 of these artworks in the show.

Isabela Herig works for Acute Art. It organised the art show.

Herig: "This piece is quite interesting also because some of the elements of the table are interactive."

Coronavirus changed art. Now, a lot of art museums can’t open. But people can enjoy this art outside.

Daniel Birbaum chose the art for "Unreal City". He thinks AR art is good. Lots of people can see the art.

Birbaum: “One of the ideas has been to democratise art, to, in a way, make art visible in places where normally it's not visible. You know, I have nothing against traditional art fairs or museums of course, I spent my life working for such institutions. But then, you know, there are people who don't live in major capitals where there are big collections." view less
